Description |

The Perfect Job is a game about becoming a professional thief by planning and executing increasingly difficult burglaries.  Playing as Otto, a small time thief who has just been sprung from jail by a notorious mob boss, you must perfect your burglary skills in order to pull off jobs to repay the man who helped you escape.  Each level has you robbing a new building for a specific item, but you are free to explore and steal additional loot along the way.  You can use the money that you earn to make the next level easier by paying off guards, disabling cameras, and other tricks.

This game was our main project during the Game Design Program at Vancouver Film School and was developed by a core team of four people using Flash. We were responsible for taking the idea of the game from concept to completion in a short amount of time while ensuring that we completed all milestones assigned to us along the way.

 

PRODUCER:

► Wrote the project plan for the entire game which included policies for risk, cost, quality, and time management procedures; a Work Breakdown Structure for all team members, project schedule with all milestones, and a budget with all project costs.
► Managed and assigned tasks to all group members and oversaw all content creation by over a dozen collaborators for sound effects, music, modelling, animation, and writing. 
► Presented the game to a full auditorium of people and fielded all questions during a brief Q&A period.

 

GAME DESIGNER:

► Created and pitched the game concept to the team and then fleshed out the Game Design Document and initial prototype.
► Designed and implemented the mechanics and game logic for the three mini games used in the levels of the game (lock picking, safe cracking, and alarm hacking).

 

PROGRAMMER:

► Programmed the character movement and animation systems, game logic for all main mechanics, mini games, blueprint mode, and User Interface in ActionScript 3.0. Also implemented all music and sound effects.
